Ruth and Bill Dalby cut the first timbers with a borrowed sawmill. Their granddaughter Kate runs the place now, and the sawmill is still in the barn.

Ski days that start before the queue does
The shuttle leaves at 7:15 for Teton Village and the boot room has a dryer running when you get back. Between storms, the valley is silent and the light on the range is worth the cold hands.

The quiet weeks, at the quiet price
Mud season in Jackson Hole means empty roads, calving moose in the willows, and rooms at close to half the winter rate. The park road opens to cyclists before it opens to cars.

Long days, cold rivers, late suppers in the garden
Sunrise is a few minutes after five and the light holds past nine. Fish in the morning, hike in the afternoon, and eat outside at a long table while the range turns orange behind the trees.
- Guided float trips. Snake River drift boats leave the lodge at eight.
- Trails from the door. Nine miles of marked lodge trails, plus the park nine minutes away.
- Thursday garden supper. Sixteen seats at a long table with the chef cooking on the hearth.

Elk bugling, aspens turning, nobody on the trails
The best-kept secret in the valley. The crowds go home after Labor Day, the aspens turn the hillside yellow for about ten days, and the elk rut fills the evenings with a sound you have to hear.

Chef Nora Whitcomb cooks what the kitchen garden and the valley give her, on an open hearth in a room with 64 seats and no music playing over the conversation.

One day at Pinecrest, hour by hour
The rhythm of the place, from the coffee urn at six in the morning to the last chair in the great room.
The urn is on from 6 am and the boot dryers have been running all night. Take a cup with you, look at the snow board, and decide whether today is a tram day or a Snow King day.
Fourteen minutes to Teton Village, skis loaded for you, back on the hour until six. In summer it runs on request, mostly to trailheads and the Wilson boat launch.
Two mineral pools from our own well held at 102 degrees, a cold plunge between them, and a wood-fired cedar sauna for eight. Towels are stacked by the door. Open until ten.
Lit at seven every night since 1971, including the winter the road closed for nine days. Cider in a copper pot, marshmallows, wool blankets, and the telescope on the first and third Saturday.
A 14-foot stone hearth, deep chairs, a whiskey cart and a shelf of valley books. Most nights somebody is asleep in the corner chair by half past ten, and nobody wakes them.

Check in from 4 pm and check out by 11 am. If your flight lands early we will hold your bags, give you the boot room and the hot springs, and text you when the room is ready. Late checkout until 1 pm is usually possible in shoulder season.
Jackson Hole Airport is 12 minutes away, the only commercial airport inside a US national park. We meet scheduled flights with a car if you tell us your arrival time when you book.
Yes, in the cabins and the great room, for 65 dollars a stay. We provide a bed, bowls, towels and a fenced run behind the barn. Dogs are not allowed in Timberline Table or the hot springs.
