Creekside Cabin

The room

Six Creekside Cabins stand in the pines below the lodge, each one far enough from the next that you hear water rather than neighbours. Every cabin has a covered porch that cantilevers over the creek.

Inside is one warm room and a bedroom: a wood stove, a kitchenette with a fridge, a two-burner cooktop and real knives, a table by the window and a king bed with a view of trees. The bathroom has a slate shower big enough for two and a heated rail that dries gloves overnight.

The porch is the point. There are two chairs, a bench, and in summer a hammock we hang in June and take down in September. Fish Creek runs high and loud in late May and turns clear and quiet by August. In winter it steams.

Cabins are a four-minute walk on a lit, ploughed path to the lodge door, or a one-minute ride on the cart if the weather is unpleasant. Breakfast can be delivered to the porch in a wooden box.
